Facilitating a Brexit conference for SME’s

By May 8, 2017June 6th, 2017No Comments

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working with the team in Europe Direct Blanchardstown and Fingal Libraries on a Brexit event targeted at SMEs. The purpose of the event is to inform SME’s of how the Brexit negotiations are shaping up, how Brexit may impact on their businesses (both positively and negatively) and to help business owners begin to prepare strategies to cope with the potential impact of Brexit. Last week I was interviewed about the conference on a local radio station http://neararchive.org/upload/northsidetoday-04-05-2017-002.mp3 and it’s worth a listen! Having designed the facilitation plan and as the moderator I will be getting the participants to share their concerns and the emerging issues with each other throughout the evening. We have a great line up of speakers including:

  • Anne Lanigan – Manager, Brexit Unit, Enterprise Ireland
  • Barry Andrews – Director General, Institute of International and European Affairs,
  • Oisin Geoghegan – Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Fingal
  • Donal McCarthy – CEO of Commercial Mushroom Producers

It will be fascinating to see what emerges and the output of this conference https://www.localenterprise.ie/Fingal/Fingal/News/Brexit-Moving-into-the-new-Europe-for-SMEs.html will be fed back into the appropriate channels to inform the Brexit negotiations and to help ensure that SMEs can rise to the Brexit challenge.
