Weather Forecast

06/02/21 10:15

Mainly dry if cloudy today with the best of any sunny spells in western counties. Some mainly light showers will affect eastern counties in a fresh cold northeasterly breeze. Highs 3c – 7c. Some light showers in eastern counties overnight but most places will stay dry with frost developing in western counties where skies remain clear for any length of time. Lows -1c to +4c. Becoming progressively colder on Sunday as the easterly wind strengthens and brings very cold air in from Scandinavia. Many places will stay dry with a mix of sunny spells and cloudier periods. However, showers, mostly light, will form over the Irish Sea and they will increasingly turn to sleet and snow as they push into eastern counties through the day. Fresh easterly winds. Highs 1c – 4c. Sleet and snow showers will feed into eastern counties off the Irish Sea on Monday in a bitterly cold easterly wind. Mainly dry with a few sunny spells in western counties. Fresh easterly winds. Highs 0c – 4c. Snow showers will be more frequent in a bitterly cold east wind on Tuesday. Streams of showers are likely to form over the Irish Sea and push inland mainly affecting eastern counties where accumulations are likely. Similar conditions likely on Wednesday and frost will be penetrating due to the east wind. Milder conditions will try to push in from the Atlantic on Thursday but the rain is likely to turn to snow as it does so. It’s then a matter as to how quickly the milder conditions can push the cold air away, if at all.
