Brussels and the Mediation Bill

It’s been a hectic and very varied work agenda over the past couple of weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed facilitating a gathering of media and communication practitioners from across the EU in Brussels recently. This group were looking ahead to the 2019 European Parliament elections and exploring techniques, possible collaborations and potential mutual support. They hadn’t met collectively for 3 years and there had been quite a turnover in personnel. One of the main outcomes of the day was the proposal that, despite all the modern forms of communication including video conferencing, this group wants to meet face to face about two times a year, to strengthen their working relationships. I’ve facilitated in many places but this townhouse “Maison de Cedric” https://www.onehousestand.com/portfolioScript.php?portfolio_id=350 was one of the best  venues I have worked in for a group of this size.

As PR consultant for the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland I have been working closely with the team there to lobby key people in Leinster House in relation to the Mediation Bill. I’m delighted to report that the Bill passed all stages in the Dáil last night and now heads to the Seanad for approval. Hopefully its passage will be expedited there very soon so that enactment of the Bill can begin the delivery of much improved dispute resolution processes throughout Ireland.
